This program allows Madison-area residents the chance to open their homes and hearts to international students and scholars for 1 to 3 nights when they first arrive in Madison. Newly-arriving students have found this to be most helpful, as it provides a brief period of rest, comfort, and initial adjustment before they move into their long-term housing in dormitories or apartments. In addition, hosts can often answer many questions international students have about life in Madison and the US.
Despite the ongoing COVID situation, several MFIS volunteers have expressed an interest in providing Temporary Homestay for the fall 2022 academic semester. The health and safety of our volunteers and students is a top priority for MFIS, so if you wish to provide or receive temporary housing for fall 2022 please be aware of the COVID risk and take precautions you deem as necessary. The number of MFIS volunteers providing temporary housing may be limited so spots will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Sorry, all available temporary homestay placements for fall semester, 2022, are currently full.
